MSG receives two Demag all terrains

Kehl, Germany-based crane hire, heavy haulage and project logistics company MSG Krandienst recently took delivery of two Demag all terrain cranes from Terex - a AC 700-9 and a AC 500-8.

Alfred Jatz, general manager at MSG, said, “Although these cranes have been in production for a while now, they really are at the cutting edge of technology. They combine sophisticated and reliable engineering with a variety of technical advantages.”

These advantages include, for instance, a long boom that makes the AC 700-9 “perfect” for a broad range of applications, as well as short setup and disassembly times that benefit from the fact that the crane is self rigging to a large extent, the company said. Björn Jatz, company officer at MSG, added, “In many cases this eliminates the need for an assist crane and the costs associated with that.”

Alfred and Björn Jatz, along with a crane operator and several employees from the company travelled to Zweibrücken for the handover. Terex sales manager Michael Zieger, senior manager of Germany sales Matthias Mayer, location manager Klaus Beulker and VP of EMEAR sales and customer support Carsten von der Geest handed over the AC 700-9 to MSG.

When ordering the 700 tonne all terrain, MSG decided on the full equipment package, which among other options comes with a central jack leg. This feature was required for its first project, in which it was used to lift a lock gate near Strasbourg.

Since the delivery of the AC 700-9, the company have also purchased a 500 tonne capacity AC 500-8 all terrain. Alfred Jatz commented on the new addition to the MSG fleet, “With its carrier length of 17.15 metres, the AC 500-8 is the most compact 8 axle crane of its class, and yet it features an impressive system length of up to 154.8 m.”

He adds, “The Demag brand stands for top-of-the-line quality, and we all have fond memories of it. That is why it is great news that the products from Zweibrücken are now continuing with the tradition.”
