In Canada NCSG Crane and Heavy Haul Corp and Fagioli Canada have signed a co-operation agreement to pursue crane, rigging and heavy haul related project work on LNG projects in the Prince Rupert area.

“Fagioli is the specialized service provider currently doing the heavy haul and lift work at the only major greenfield LNG facility in North America,” said Edoardo Ascione, Fagioli president in north America. “We are proud to be doing the heavy lift work at the Sabine Pass LNG export facility being constructed in Louisiana, This work along with our global LNG experience working in Angola, Qatar, Equatorial Guinea, Europe and Australia makes our partnership with NCSG uniquely qualified to work on the Canadian LNG projects.”

“The combination of NCSG, Fagioli and our First Nation partners will allow us to use our local presence to offer fully operated and maintained rigging, crane and heavy haul services from six tons to 64,000 tons,” said Ted Redmond, NCSG chief executive officer. “NCSG is the number one crane and heavy haul supplier in Northern B.C. and we have local people, local equipment and local branches in Prince Rupert, Terrace/Kitimat, Ft. St. John, and Tumbler Ridge from which to support the work,” Redmond continued.

Fagioli and NCSG combined have more than 320 cranes, 1,300 lines of self propelled modular transporter, 435 lines of hydraulic platform trailer, 300 conventional trailers and specialized rigging such as tower gantries, strand jack systems, jack and slide systems. Also included are hydraulic gantries for lifting and skidding modules up to 64,000 tonnes.

NCSG was started in 1987 as Northern Crane Services and it was purchased in 2006 by the current investor group. Since then there have been eight acquisitions and it has grown at a compound annual rate of around 30 %. Edmonton, Alberta-based NCSG is one of the largest crane and heavy haul companies in North America. It has a fleet of more than 280 cranes, in capacities from 6 to 1,350 tonnes, and a specialized heavy haul tractor and trailer fleet servicing the refining, oil sands, upstream oil and gas, LNG, mining, infrastructure, commercial and wind/utility industries.

Headquartered in Italy, the Fagioli Group specialises in heavy transport and lifting, in conjunction with related engineering and transport logistics. Door-to-door project cargo shipping is another area of activity. The extensive transport fleet includes a wide range of equipment from conventional trailers to the latest generation of self-propelled modular transporter. Lifting and moving equipment available includes large crawler cranes, telescopic hydraulic gantries, strand jacks, tower lifts and flat jacking equipment for hoisting and skidding operations. Its maritime operations include specialist heavy transport ocean and river barges, and self geared and roll-on roll-off ships.
