Caterpillar's D4K

Caterpiller has launched its new K-Series dozers – the D3K, D4K, D5K – following the launch of its D6K last year. The D4K (8,15 tonne, 62,6 kW) and the D5K (9,4 tonne, 71,6 kW) will be available in Europe, Africa and the Middle East while the D3K (7,79 tonne, 55,2 kW) will only be available in Africa and the Middle East.

All three use Cat’s C4.4 ACERT engine, but are also available with a Liquid Gas Petroleum (LGP) engine, although this adds to their operating weights.

New seat-mounted controls isolate the operator from vibration, while new ergonomic handles reduce fatigue and provide intuitive control. The optional AccuGrade machine control and guidance system is integrated into the machine, while the display is now positioned lower on the dashboard improving the line of sight to the blade.

Improved hydrostatic controls mean a more responsive and manoeuvrable machine, while the hydrostatic winch, with infinitely variable modulation of speed and pull, reduces operator effort.

The SystemOne undercarriage, standard in Europe and optional in Africa and the Middle East, reduces maintenance time and costs thanks to a rotating bushing design, which increases bushing life and eliminates the need for bushing turns.
