New cranes for Hiab T-Series

Hiab, part of Cargotec, added two additional capacity classes to its renewed T-Series of articulating loader cranes that includes models from 0.9 to 3.5 tonne-metres.

The new cranes are the Hiab T-009, the smallest in the range, and the T-018, a popular size, Hiab said, for many different operations. Built for easy mounting on pickups and light trucks, the cranes are used in a range of applications where loading and unloading of equipment and material is required close to a workplace.

“We are very happy to complete the Hiab T-Series with these two cranes. The first new cranes in the renewed range were launched last year and have been very well received in the market. The T-series features the latest technology such as nDurance, SmartControl and hybrid drive. They are light cranes with strong advantages,” said Patrik Kvarnlöf, director at light range - loader cranes, Hiab.

Hiab’s new cranes have a cast base designesd to be durable and it is sealed to help maintain the quality of the lubricant. The T-009 and T-018 are painted according to the nDurance painting process to safeguard a long life, the company said.

The T-009 weighs just over 130 kilogrammes, yet it can lift 870 kg close-in and 240 kg at a full outreach of almost four metres. When folded into a parked position, the T-009 requires only a minimum of space and fits under most pickup truck covers. It is rated at 0.95 tonne-metres.

With a capacity of well over one tonne close-in, as well as a reach of more than four metres, the T-018 is designed for single-handed, on-the-spot loading and unloading of medium to heavy products such as generators, compressors, compactors, pumps and bagged sand, the company explained. The crane was designed for work on building sites, or anywhere else where access is difficult for other types of materials handling equipment.

The T-Series cranes can be operated on electricity alone, which limits noise in operation and reduces fuel consumption, the company said. The power pack is charged whenever the truck engine is running. Hiab said that the SmartControl remote control system adds safety and enables simultaneous crane movements, in addition to providing high precision for manoeuvring and positioning goods for operators who want flexibility and total control.

The new cranes will be on display at the Bauma exhibition in Munich, Germany from 11 to 17 April 2016, stands FN. 921/4 and FN. 1024/1.
