New Kobelco 550 tonne capacity crawler

15 April 2008

Kobelco's new 550 tonne capacity lattice boom crawler will make its debut at the Bauma exhibition in Germany late April. The SL6000 (IC January 07 News, p7) was developed by the Japanese manufacturer with input from “several key buyers around the world who are looking forward to getting the crane delivered.” One buyer is Weldex, the largest crawler crane rental house in the UK, which has ordered two units with the full SHL (Super Heavy Lift) specification of 84 + 84 m maximum boom and luffing jib combination.

Powering the new crane is a 320 kW EU and US Stage/Tier 3 Hino engine. The computer controlled Engine Speed Sensing System (ESS) coordinates engine speed, hydraulic flow and pressure demand for smooth performance during simultaneous operations.

Maximum line pull is 245 kN, rated line pull is 137 kN and maximum line speed is 110 m/min. Free fall is optional on the main and auxiliary winches.
