Cargo handling and special transport company Darcy Pacheco Soluções de Peso has taken delivery of an 800 tonne capacity Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1.

The crane will be used initially for maintenance operations of a thermoelectric plant in Brazil

The heavy-duty 9-axle crane was ordered with a telescopic boom extension and 91 metre luffing jib.

Its first job is maintenance operations at a thermoelectric plant in the northeast of Brazil. After that it will be used mainly for the maintenance of petrochemical and pulp industry plants, as well as the upkeep of wind farms.

“We choose the LTM 1750-9.1 for its high load capacities,” said Eduardo Silva, maintenance director at Darcy Pacheco. “With this crane, we are able to perform services that we used to perform with crawler cranes, benefiting from greater mobility and the possibility of operating in more restricted locations.”

Reducing fuel

In addition to the VarioBase support system it has the optional eco mode and Ecodrive functions to save fuel and reduce noise.

“Our partnership with Liebherr has been going on for years. We already had mobile cranes with capacities between 100 and 500 tonnes, and 400 to 750 tonnes crawler cranes in our fleet. Now we have increased capacity with this 800 tonne mobile crane,” commented Silva.
