Eugen Egetenmeir (R) will step down as managing director of Messe München International at the end of this year. His successor is Stefan Rummel (L).

The bC India exhibition will remain in at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida for the “foreseeable future,” according to Eugen Egetenmeir, managing director of co-organiser Messe München International. However, it may move closer to the centre of Delhi if a mooted new exhibition complex is built near the Indira Ghandi International Airport.

The prospect of building the Exhibition and Convention Center – Dwarka (ECC-Dwarka), has been raised by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC). However, plans stalled during the previous Indian government’s administration. However, Mr Egetenmeir was hopeful the scheme would be brought back to life.

“There is some good evidence that the Modi Government will pick it up,” he said, adding, “It is seen as an important piece of infrastructure for India.”

Messe München is acting as advisor to the project along with a number of other German trade fair organisers. Mr Egetenmeir said that if the scheme goes ahead, the group comprising Messe München, Messe Hanover and Messe Düsseldorf would bid to operate the facility.

But for the immediate future, he said bC India would remain at the India Expo Centre. “This will be the home for the show for the foreseeable future. There is no alternative,” said Mr Egetenmeir.

bC India is organised by bC Expo India, a joint venture between Messe München International (MMI), which organises the Bauma and Bauma China trade shows, among others, and the US-based Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), which is responsible for the ConExpo-Con/Agg event in Las Vegas, US, among other exhibitions.
