US-based National Trench Safety, LLC (NTS) has acquired operating assets of Stone Pump and Trench, LLC, Charleston, South Carolina, as wells as its Charlotte and Fayetteville, North Carolina branch operations.

The Houston-based company, which specialises in the rental and sales of trench and traffic safety equipment, sees potential for growth in the Mid-Atlantic region.

“Charlotte is a very large metropolitan area with a diverse mix of highway and utility construction, while Fayetteville will put NTS in a position to better service the needs of the Raleigh and Eastern North Carolina markets", said Ron Chilton, president of NTS.

"When combined with the operations we opened last year in Burlington, NC and Charleston, SC, the acquired locations in Charlotte and Fayetteville will provide customers an unequalled trench and traffic safety partner in the Carolinas”.

The acquired Charleston operation has been consolidated into NTS’ existing Charleston operation. NTS also anticipates increasing market share through the introduction of new product lines and services to capitalize upon and expand existing opportunities and customer relationships in these markets.

“As part of the transaction, we are acquiring a significant amount of rental fleet that will be used to support our new and existing operations. We will be optimizing that fleet in the coming months and anticipate making a significant investment in additional rental fleet assets, including the introduction of several new products to the markets,” Mr Chilton added.

NTS plans to open several new branch operations in 2013 and 2014.
