The Port of Lyttleton, New Zealand has signed an order for a super post panamax ship to shore crane and four straddle carriers from Liebherr Container Cranes.

Following the order, the number of Liebherr straddle carriers in the Port of Lyttelton now stands at eight, while the total number of ship to shore cranes at the port has risen to three.

A similar order was made by the Port of Tauranga on New Zealand’s North Island, which recently took delivery of a new Liebherr super post panamax ship to shore crane and three new Liebherr straddle carriers, a company spokesperson said.

A seventh Liebherr ship to shore crane will be delivered in early 2014, bringing the total on the North Island to nine.
