Oshkosh to buy JLG

24 April 2008

US-based truck manufacturer Oshkosh Truck Corp has reached a surprise agreement to buy aerial platform manufacturer JLG Industries for US$ 3,2 billion (€ 2,56 billion). The sale, at US$ 28 (€ 22,3) per share, is expected to close by January. JLG's president and CEO, Bill Lasky, said JLG had not been for sale, however, “When I was approached by [Oshkosh], I was hoping to find a reason why it wouldn't be a good fit for JLG...that didn't last very long when I looked at the success and track record of Oshkosh, he said. No other potential buyers were contacted.
