Keller Grundbau has completed a vibro compaction contract at Nakheel's Palm Jumeirah Island, Dubai, following extensive land reclamation. Keller achieved a bearing capacity of 150 kN/m2 and 60% relative density within the reclaimed fill. Keller's solution was to create a grid of dense columns on a regular 3.75 m spacing using a giant vibrating poker. Average compaction depth was 13 m.
