Paving day

15 February 2010

Contractor Rask Mecklenburg used a Volvo ABG7820 asphalt paver to create a 400 m road within a day at a new housing development in Ostholstein, Germany.

Tasked with creating a road suitable for handling heavy construction traffic, the contractor transported the 2,5 m wide ABG7820 to the site in the morning and with attachments, extended the paving width to 6,5 m so the full road could be paved in one pass.

With a roller following immediately behind to compact the 500 tonnes of asphalt, Rask Mecklenburg managed to complete the project in just eight hours.

Site foreman Jörg Frehse said, "The crew of eight men and our colleague in the shape of the Volvo ABG7820 asphalt paver performed faultlessly and we managed to stick exactly to my original plan and schedule."
