Former HUNE managing director Pedro Torres Michelena is joining Riwal as region director north, leading Riwal’s businesses in The Netherlands, UK, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Mr Torres, who takes up his post on 1 December, replaces Søren Rosenkrands who was promoted to chief operations officer (COO) of Riwal in June. He will be based at Riwal’s headquarters in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, reporting to Riwal CEO Norty Turner.

Riwal said Mr Torres will be a member of the company’s international management board and “will be responsible for developing and leading the execution of the region strategy in line with Riwal’s group strategy”.

Mr Torres left Spanish rental company HUNE Rental in October. He was managing director of HUNE Plataformas, HUNE’s aerial platform division, for three years to 2010 and he then became managing director of HUNE Rental. Before joining HUNE he was with rental company Nacanco in Italy and Spain, where he was managing director and CEO at the time of its acquisition by HUNE.

Norty Turner said; “I am delighted that Pedro Torres is joining Riwal. With his extensive experience in the rental industry, he will be instrumental in helping Riwal continue to provide outstanding service for our customers and to serve as a strong leader for our employees in Region North.”

Mr Torres holds an MBA degree from the Dorset Business School in the UK and a Master’s degree in general management from the IESE-University of Navarra, Spain.
