Polish rail contract for Astaldi

Astaldi has been awarded a €171 million contract in Poland by state-owned PKP (Polskie Linie Kolejowe) – responsible for managing the country’s railway infrastructure – to upgrade a section of the N-7 Warsaw Wschodnia Osobowa-Dorohusk railway line.

The Italian-based company will have a 65% share of the joint venture, with a 25% share held by Kazakhstani-based Zhol Zhondeushi, 5% held by Poland’s PBDiM, and 5% held by the Italian company CLF.

Financed using European funding and state budget, and planned to take approximately two years to complete, the project will involve the demolition, reconstruction and extension of Lot C – a 68km stretch of railway that includes Lublin station.

The contract also includes the construction of level crossings, new service and access roads, and some minor related works.

Astaldi said the contract was in line with its strategy plan, which aims to consolidate the group’s footprint in Central Europe.
