Turkish dealer Tekno Vinç has supplied two Potain tower cranes to help build the 610 metre long Nissibi cable-stayed bridge in Turkey.

The MC 235 B tower cranes were supplied by Tekno Vinç for Gulsan Co, the main contractor for the project. The first top slewing tower crane was erected in September 2012, followed by the second in January 2013.

The 10 tonne capacity towers are working 10 hours a day and are being used to lift building materials such as formwork and steel structures. They will also be used to lift sections of carrier cables weighing up to 10 tonnes, a company spokesperson added.

To carry out the tasks the MC 235 B tower cranes have been erected to heights of 101 m and 104 m and anchored to 96 m tall pylons that form part of the bridge structure. The towers have both been configured with 45 m jibs.

Once complete later this year the Nissibi Bridge will be 24.5 m wide and span 400 m across the Euphrates River.

Sinan Türeyen, Tekno Vinç group director, said, “We have used Potain cranes at major job sites throughout Turkey for years – they are easy to use and offer exceptional durability. Plus, they offer the support of Manitowoc Crane Care, which gives us great service and quick spare parts, if needed. This bridge will be another Turkish landmark that will have Potain to thank for its on-time completion.”
