Powerscreen has upgraded its X400S mobile jaw crusher through the integration of a fully independe3nt high amplitude, hydraulically driven pre-screen with an increased drop angel on the bottom deck. The screen removes a large percentage of the fines within the feed material before it enters the jaw chamber, resulting in increased output from the crusher, and is especially effective when the feed material is dry.

To facilitate improved pre-screened material flow, the discharge opening from the under-chute has been enlarged from 200 mm (8 in) to 320 mm (12.75 in) to allow pre-screened material to by-pass the chamber more quickly. To assist in the removal of the pre-screened material, the stockpile capacity of the new X400S Pre-Screen side conveyor is 41 cubic metres (1,448 cubic feet). The conveyor’s width has also been increased from 600 mm (24 in) to 650 mm (26 in).

The new machine offers quick set-up times, an optional improved hopper capacity and a more efficient transfer of screened materials to the improved side conveyor.

The XA400S Pre-Screen with hydraulic adjust was shown at Hillhead in the UK in 2012 and the XR400S Pre-Screen with hydraulic release will be shown at bauma in Germany during April 2013.
