Putzmeister partners with Simem

Concrete equipment manufacturer Putzmeister has further broadened its portfolio after agreeing to form a strategic alliance with Simem, an Italian batching and mixing specialist.

Privately-held Simem manufactures stationary and mobile concrete batching plants, as well as concrete distribution systems and water treatment plants.

Owned by the Furlani Family, Simem is headquartered in Minerbe, Verona, Italy, and has manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, India, and Texas, US. It generates annual revenues of €50 million.

The deal comes after Putzmeister acquired German truck mixer manufacturer Intermix from its owner Hans-Georg Stetter last year. Putzmeister is itself owned by Chinese construction equipment manufacturer Sany.

A spokesman from Simem said the strategic partnership with Putzmeister would allow it to integrate its own batching and mixing programme with Putzmeister's concrete pumps, as well as the truck-mixers from Intermix. The idea is to develop a "one stop shop" for any kind of concrete project, from ready-mix to precast to special projects, anywhere worldwide.

The spokesman also confirmed that Federico and Michele Furlani would continue to manage Simem.
