RDO Equipment buys Californian heavy rentals company

RDO Equipment Co, an equipment rental and dealership based in Fargo, North Dakota, has acquired Californian heavy equipment rental company B&B Heavy Equipment Sales & Rentals for an undisclosed sum.

B&B has three locations in the southern California area and has a fleet of 500 Caterpillar and Hitachi units rented in California, Arizona and Nevada. RDO said that 69 B&B staff are joining RDO, and RDO's president, Bob Wheelington, will lead the combined rental operations of the two companies.

Christi Offutt, RDO's chief executive officer, said; "This venture has brought two successful companies together, and...helps us increase momentum in the challenging southwest marketplace."

RDO sells and rents both construction and agricultural equipment from 50 locations in nine states, employing over 1600 people. It is a dealer for Johne Deere (construction and agricultural equipment), Sakai, Vermeer and Hitachi.
