Record pipelay contract for SAS Winches

SAS Winches has won contracts with Heerema and Allseas to supply equipment for two offshore vessels to be constructed by Daewoo in South Korea.
The Netherlands-based deck equipment company will supply Allseas Group with four abandonment and recovery (A&R) winches, and a special turn sheave block assembly for its platform installation and decommissioning and pipelay vessel, Pieter Schelte.
The dynamically positioned vessel will be 382 m long, 117 m wide and will have a topsides lift capacity of 48,000 tonnes and a jacket lift capacity of 25,000 tonnes.
The pipelay tension capacity will be 2,000 tonnes, doubling the capacity of Allseas' Solitaire, thereby surpassing it as the world's largest pipelay vessel.
Delivery of the completed single-lift and pipelay vessel is slated for 2013, ready for offshore operations early in 2014.
For Hereema Marine Contractors, SAS Winches will design and fabricate a mooring equipment package for its vessel, Aegir.
The package consists of two mooring windlasses and chain stoppers and six constant tension barge mooring winches. All equipment will be supplied with the associated electric power units, local and remote controls and other mooring components.
