German crane rental companies HN Krane and Maxikraft, used two Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom mobile cranes to lift a bridge into place over the River Spree in Berlin, Germany.

The lift was part of a project to widen the Friedrich Bridge, which links the city to the Berlin Museum Island. Sections were installed next to the existing bridge to widen it from 12.5 to 27 metres.

The two mobile cranes were put on either side of the river and the sections were then lifted in tandem and installed beside the existing bridge. To complete the lift both cranes were configured with a 35 m SL main boom and 245 tonnes of ballast, a company spokesperson said.

The job was completed in October 2013 and was carried out over night.
