UK Health and Safety Executive statistics show nearly a quarter of all deaths involving vehicles at work occur while they are reversing, a manufacturer of reverse warning systems said. It is hoped that a new reverse warning system will help save lives.

Reversealert consists of a heavy-duty rubber box with a highly visible LED flashing message, telling road users and pedestrians that a vehicle is or will be reversing. It can be controlled by the driver and activated before the vehicle reverses, using a dashboard-mounted switch

Also available is a model that can be wired directly into the reversing light circuit so that the display is activated when reverse gear is selected
