Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has announced it has received an order from Manila North Harbour Port (MNHPI) in the Philippines to supply six rubber tyre gantry cranes (RTGs).

The cranes are being manufactured at the TPS facility in Xiamen, China. They have a lifting capacity of 40.6 tonnes under spreader and a hoisting height of 18.1 metres. The models can stack 1-over-5 standard containers and cover six rows of containers and a truck lane, thanks to their span of 23.47 m, the manufacturer said.

Richard Barclay, MNHPI chief executive officer, said, “We continue to invest in the modernisation of our infrastructure in order to develop and transform our facilities into a first-class port.

“The four RTG cranes have more than fulfilled our expectations, and so did the after-sales service provided. It was a logical decision to opt for TPS with a view to a further expansion of our capacities.”

Maurizio Altieri, general manager at the TPS facility in Xiamen, said, “MNHPI is a leading player in one of the most dynamic Asian markets, and we are proud that ten of our cranes will contribute to the rapid growth of this port. Generally speaking, we appreciate that more customers all over the world and especially in Asia continue to rely on our equipment designed and manufactured in our TPS Xiamen facility.”

The first of the RTGs is due to be delivered at the end of 2014. They will join four Terex RTGs delivered to the port in 2013.
