Germany-based Ruthmann has sold more than 650 Steiger TB 270 truck mounts since the model’s launch five years ago.

The 650th unit of the 27 m working height machine was purchased by French rental giant Kiloutou. The announcement was made at Intermat in France when Rolf Kulawik, Ruthmann’s general manager and the company’s area sales manager in France Remy Doyen, handed a trophy to Kiloutou’s products manager Xavier Decoster.

Also at Intermat, the manufacturer launched its TB 270+. The ‘+’ represents a complete redesign of the TB 270. The development was essential due to the new Euro 6 emission standards which will become mandatory in many European countries in the third quarter 2015. Because Euro 6 vehicles are much heavier than previous Euro 5 chassis, the overall weight had to be reduced. This new model has the same functions and conceptual design as its predecessor which has sold more than 650 times since 2010.

High strength, fine-grain steel has been used and the turret has been strengthened with welded ‘honeycombs’ which results in a machine that is 20% lighter, with 20% greater load torque and 20% more torsional rigidity.

The full 27 m working height is attainable at the maximum 230 kg cage load capacity. With a cage load of 100 kg, the TB 270+ has a horizontal outreach of 16.4 m, which is almost two metres more than its predecessor.
