06 May 2010

A Saipem/Leighton Contractors joint venture has won a further AUS 150 million (US$ 137 million) contract at Chevron's Gorgon LNG Jetty and Marine Structures.

The Saipem Leighton Consortium has been issued a variation for work relating to the design, fabrication and installation of Pre Assembled Racks (PARs) for the 2.1 km LNG Jetty, in addition to the original AU$ 900 million (US$ 814 million) scope.

The PAR design, fabrication, transport and installation will be integrated into the existing Gorgon Jetty project design and construction process. Design of the PARs has already commenced and fabrication is likely to start in late 2010, with installation works to be complete by late 2013.

The original scope of work consists of the design, material supply, fabrication, construction and commissioning of the LNG Jetty. Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2011 on Barrow Island, 70 km off the Pilbara coast of Western Australia.
