Sandvik rationalises crusher manufacture

30 March 2009

Sandvik has announced its intention to create a global crushing and screening ‘centre of excellence' at the former Extec facility in Swadlincote, UK. This will see the production of Sandvik's heavy mobile equipment moving from Sweden to the UK.

The move follows on from the purchase of both Fintec and Extec in 2007, and the subsequent integration of these two companies into the Sandvik brand structure. According to the company, the move should create a crushing and screening operation that will offer one of the most extensive product offerings available from a single manufacturer. Sandvik will be able to offer a full range of light and medium class machines for recycling and demolition duties, as well as a full line of medium to heavy products suitable for civil engineering and quarrying activities.

The company intends to host a mobile crushing and screening day at Swadlincote in late June to formally announce this integration alongside the formal opening of its Global Aftermarket centre at the facility.
