Specialized transport and lifting company Schmidbauer in Germany has added a 650 tonne capacity Terex Superlift 3800 lattice boom crawler crane to its fleet.
Stefan Schmidbauer, technical manager for large cranes at Schmidbauer, said, “Terex cranes are tremendously innovative in terms of technology and engineering and, as far as we’re concerned, they’re always raising the bar before anyone else when it comes to crawler cranes. The Superlift 3800 is no exception.”
Schmidbauer ordered the crane with the Flex Frame, Split Tray, and Boom Booster extra equipment. Flex Frame allows continuous adjustment of the suspended counterweight radius. In addition, the counterweight can also be split with the use of the Split Tray option. “This significantly reduces the time and effort involved in rearranging counterweights during setup and disassembly, as well as during operation. On top of this, the Boom Booster increases the crane's already large lifting capacity by up to 30 percent,” Schmidbauer explained.
“For us, the Superlift 3800 is a safe investment in our future, especially as it still has a lot of technical expansion potential,” Schmidbauer continued. Wind turbine erection is expected to be the primary application for the new crane. Other uses include heavy cargo trans-loading and plant construction projects.
