Italian manufacturer Socage is now promoting its patented X-shape chassis for aerial work platforms (AWPs).

The X-shape chassis offers a number of technical innovations. The chassis has four telescopic outriggers, which sit at a tangent to the main chassis body, and which are longer than common outriggers, once opened. The extra length gives the platform more stability, which in turn increased the AWPs performance in terms of outreach.

Socage has designed the chassis to offer a wider stabilisation area but at the same time produced a more compact and lighter structure, so that the truck does not have to support a huge weight. The X-shape chassis is directly mounted on the truck chassis.

Socage believes its new X-shape chassis is such a breakthrough that it has secured an international patent, through intellectual property consultants Bugnion.
