State-of-the-art C&D recycling in New Jersey

21 July 2009

Quebec, Canada, based Erin Recycling is to supply a custom designed recycling system to Montecalvo Disposal Services for the latter's New Jersey recycling facility. Montecalvo is a sister company of Bayshore Recycling Corp.

This new dual line system, which will feature an innovative combination of Erin Fingerscreeners with air density and magnetic separation equipment, is intended to automate a sizable percentage of the material separation process.

Once delivered and commissioned, which should be acheived by the end of October, the new system will handle the company's current permitted daily 1,000 tonnes throughput but has been designed with expansion in mind. According to Bayshore's director of C&D operations: "Currently we have nine different primary products that we recover on a regular basis. However, this system was designed with an overabundance of sorting stations so we can increase volumes of specific products as the market dictates. In fact, it was that ability to adapt to changes - coupled with Erin Recycling's attention to detail - that led us to chose them over at least 10 other manufacturers. In addition, we had an existing building and footprint to work with, so our situation was a bit unique. That added certain challenges when it came to system design and the team from Erin met those challenges nicely."
