Strong support for ESTA and FEM wind industry conference

The finishing touches are being made to a new experts’ summit titled New Challenges In Onshore Wind Farm Construction”. Organised by FEM and ESTA it takes place in Hamburg, Germany, on 23 February.

The summit is aimed at all who are trying to improve safety and efficiency during operations to transport and erect wind turbines, and who want to hear about the latest innovations and developments.

Around 150 delegates are expected to attend the one-day summit and reception, which has attracted leading industry speakers from across the sector and is sponsored by Liebherr, Nooteboom, Terex and the Tii Group.

Speakers include:

Friedrich Brockmann, senior director QSE Central Europe, Vestas.

Sander Splinter, managing director, Mammoet Europe.

Barry Denness, head of port operations - Hull, Siemens Wind Power.

Marcus Wübbelmann, crane and logistics manager, GE Renewable Energy.

Hans-Dieter Willim, general manager, design department, Liebherr-Werk Ehingen.

Norbert van Schaik, technical lifting specialist, Siemens.

David Collett, president of ESTA and managing director, Collett Group.

Klaus Meissner, director, product strategy, Terex Cranes, and president, mobile cranes product group, FEM.

The summit is organised and supported by ESTA (the European Association for Abnormal Road Transport and Mobile Cranes) and the Cranes and Lifting Equipment Product Group of FEM (the European Materials Handling Federation).

Søren Jansen, ESTA director, said, “There needs to be much better communication between the developers, the contractors, the turbine manufacturers and the crane and transport companies, including the crane and trailer manufacturers.

“At present, many firms feel that this communication is simply not taking place, but if our conference can initiate closer, better communication between the stakeholders, it would be fantastic.”
