British contractor Erith – winner of 14 awards in various categories since 2017 – and equipment specialist Kocurek Excavators, which has been voted first six times in the Innovation Plant and Equipment category, joined Demolition & Recycling International (D&Ri) editor Steve Ducker for this slightly unusual ceremony.

In common with several companies based outside the USA, Erith and Kocurek were unable to make the trip to Chicago for the 13th World Demolition Summit, which took place in October as Covid-19 related travel restrictions continued.

But with both based in the south of England, the “alternative” awards presentation was arranged.

Regional director Grant Styles represented Erith, which this year won the Contract under US$1 million, Industrial Demolition and Safety/Training awards, while technical sales manager Fred Stearn received Kocurek’s award.

In total, 11 companies shared the 14 awards announced in Chicago. The 2022 World Demolition Summit, organised by D&Ri with the European Demolition Association and the US National Demolition Association, will take place in Vienna, Austria on 16 and 17 November.
