The holcim foundation for Sustainable Construction has launched a series of cash awards for sustainable construction projects.

Five awards are available with total prize money of US$ 2 million (€1,54 million).

The Holcim Foundation was created by Holcim, the Swiss construction materials producer, in December 2003. Its aim is to promote sustainable construction around the world, and the five prizes currently on offer reflect this, with one award to be given to each of five regions; Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and Africa/Middle East.

Projects can only be registered for the competition via the Internet. The address is www.holcimawards.org. They will be judged by independent juries in each region. The juries will be lead by five renowned technical universities, which are working with the Foundation on this initiative. The competition closes on March 31.
