Tier 4 Final gensets from Atlas Copco

Atlas Copco Portable Energy will introduce the new QAS 25 and QAS 50 generators at Conexpo – its first Tier 4 Final compliant generators.

The 60 Hz sets for heavy-duty applications are using Isuzu 4LE engines with a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)-only configuration to achieve Tier 4 Final emission levels.

The QAS 25 and QAS 50 models will replace the existing QAS 25 and QAS 45 units and Atlas Copco said that its entire range of portable generators will be Tier 4 Final-compliant by the end of this year.

Both the QAS 25 and QAS 50 have a silent enclosure design to ensure low noise levels for use in residential or other noise-sensitive locations. The 110% spillage free frame comes as standard, and DeepSea controls and a Leroy Somer AREP alternator are designed to provide easy operation of the generator in a range of heavy-duty applications.

The two new models both use the same engine, enclosure and controls, meaning that rental companies need to stock fewer spare parts, including air and oil filters.

“By minimising the number of service parts required and with increasing technician familiarity, lifecycle costs will fall,” says Jim Siffring, product manager, generators for Atlas Copco Portable Energy.
