Tight turns from Ormig
11 April 2011
Two Ormig pick-and-carry cranes have been demonstrating some of their key attributes in a confined indoor space.
The 25 tonne capacity mod.10tmEs lifted and positionned tanks weighing 9 tonnes and measuring 9 m length at an Italy-based facility.
Careful planning was required to place the tanks on two beams set 5 m apart, explained Ormig's Gian Paolo Aschero.
An articulated loader crane was used to support one end of each vessel once they had been placed onto a beam. The mod.10tmE then lifted the other end of the vessels on to the parralel beam.
"The features and performances of the Ormig cranes has allowed ease of operation in a very confined space with total safety," added Aschero.
The work was carried out by Nonantola, near Modena, Italy.
