Toggenburger buy new crane

26 February 2008

Specialist contractor Toggenburger in Switzerland has added a new telescopic boom crawler crane to its fleet.

The 40 tonne capacity Sennebogen 643R joins more than 20 mobile and crawler cranes in the Toggenburger fleet. Its first job was on a project to redevelop a hazardous waste facility in Kolliken.

To protect the surrounding environment, the work will be carried out inside what is claimed by the manufacturer as the largest self-supporting hall in Switzerland, which covers the 40,000 square metre site. The main supporting structure of the hall is two-hinged arches and ties. The arches are three-band trusses of sectional steel and have spans between 59 and 170 m

The new 643 crawler used its 30 m telescopic boom plus 13 m double folding jib for assembly of the hall arches.
