Brazil-based engineering and construction company Tomé has purchased the 300th Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 to be manufactured by the company.

Tomé, which has a 4,000-strong workforce and operates 200 mobile and crawler cranes as well as 700 transport units, has already taken delivery of the 500 tonne capacity all terrain crane.

The crane forms part of a €40 million deal with Liebherr during 2009, including three LR 1600/2-W crawler cranes, an LR 1750 crawler and two LTM 11200-9.1 wheeled mobiles.

Washington Luiz de Moura, COO of Tomé Equipamentos e Transportes, said the rapid supply of spare parts and the reliable after-sales service were important factors behind the decision to enter into a partnership with Liebherr.

According to the manufacturer, the LTM 1500-8.1 is the most successful telescopic crane in its class with good mobility combined with a big lifting capacity. It has a 12 tonne axle load and total weight of 96 tonnes and can travel at up to 80 km/h on the road, complete with support elements and a 50 m, four-part boom. The option of an 84 m long telescopic boom is also available.
