Travis Perkins buys wash rack for tool hire division

UK rental firm Travis Perkins Hire has bought a TowerLight wash rack for one of its depots and may add more.
The self-contained washing system is designed to thoroughly clean plant and machinery while protecting the environment from contaminates commonly found on construction equipment. The machine uses recycled water, which means users do not need to apply for a discharge licence.
It is swiftly installed on site or in a depot and can be made ready for use in just a few hours. The wash rack features a sturdy low angle approach ramp, which allows even low profile equipment to be loaded onto it.
The wash rack will be installed at the Travis Perkins Hire branch at Melton Mowbray, in Leicestershire. The company will roll out additional units as the company continues its current expansion programme.
Steve Ryan, the Travis Perkins Hire Midlands operations manager, said the versatility and portability of the wash rack "make it ideally suited for many of the branches under my control. Should I decide to expand or relocate branches I can remove and re-site the Wash Rack with the minimum of disruption”.
Paul Hay, managing director of TowerLight (UK), said the rack had been designed to help rental companies meet environmental and health and safety legislation; "Currently, the only option they have is to install a permanent tank, which invariably involves some sort of ground excavation.
“This can be bureaucratic and expensive and some firms may find it difficult to obtain planning permission. Therefore the Wash Rack is a more efficient, effective and cost saving way to overcome the problems that our rental customers face when cleaning plant.”
