The revision will focus on four main areas, said the NASC. First, the document will be simplified and made more approachable. Second, the Guide will assume that ledger bracing is in place - despite this not being in compliance with BS EN 12811-1, the Association has concluded that the removal of this bracing is not appropriate. Third, other commonly used scaffold types, such as those with two inside boards, will be included in the Guide. Finally, engineering assumptions and tie patterns will be reviewed in detail in order to enhance the buildability of scaffolds covered by the document.

This revision work is currently ongoing and the NASC said in a statement that initial indications are that buildability will be significantly improved. The revised Guide is expected to be available by the end of 2006, with current subscribers to TG20:05 receiving a free copy of the new TG20:06.
