UK rental firms join online rental site

12 November 2013

Two UK rental firms, Hire Station and Classic Furniture & Event Hire, have entered into partnership with peer-to-peer rental portal RentMyItems.com

The site has signed partnership agreements with the two companies, adding in excess of 1800 items to its offering.

RentMyItems is promoting rental as an alternative to the purchase of household goods, many of which are rarely used. It said that in one 12 month period UK consumers spent £2.9 billion on items used once or not at all.

Mark Moody, director at Hire Station, said: “What RentMyItems.com has achieved is important in that it brings rental of goods and equipment to a different customer base.

"With home renovations and improvements on many people minds it’s great that, through RentMyItems, Hire Station can help those with the bigger, professional items that are often difficult to source for the general public.”

Hire Station is one of the major UK tool hire businesses, owned by VP Plc.

Classic Furniture & Event Hire will now offer its range of catering equipment and event furniture hire including tables, chairs, china, cutlery hire, glasses, kitchen equipment and linen.

Rowena Mercer of The Hire Experts, who has over 30 years experience in the hire industry, has also joined RentMyItems as its strategic partner in signing up suitable hire companies to the platform.
