Ulferts & Wittrock takes delivery of first Terex Superlift 3800

German lift and transport company, Ulferts & Wittrock, has taken delivery of a Terex Superlift 3800 crawler crane - the first unit to be delivered since its launch five months ago.

The 650 tonne Superlift 3800 has a 153 metre main boom and a 12 metre light fixed jib in combination with a Vario-superlift system with counterweight tray. It has a maximum load moment of 8.426 meter tonnes at a radius of 5 to 12 meters.

The Superlift 3800 can be delivered with an integrated wind kit in a universal main boom system: the crane is capable of erecting wind turbines 117 metres high without using the available superlift boom configuration, Terex said. The company added that an assist crane is not required to help erect the main boom in this configuration.

The Superlift 3800 conforms to both the European norm EN 13000 and the US standard ASME B30.5 and comes with the Terex fall protection system. It has been designed for ease of transportation and reduced erection times.

When we heard about the Superlift 3800, we were impressed and we are convinced it’s the new benchmark in this class,” said Klaus Wittrock, co-owner of Ulferts & Wittrock. “We perform jobs all over Europe, so its outstanding transportability and efficient use of counterweight is a huge plus for us.”

“We own a Terex TC2800-1 Lattice Truck Crane and a CC2800-1 Crawler Crane and we are very satisfied with their performance. When it comes to the Superlift 3800, we are actually positively surprised by what this crane is capable of,” states Hermann Ulferts, co-owner and CEO of Ulferts & Wittrock.

“We will be erecting wind turbines with this crane, and the fact that a crane of this class can erect 150 metre wind turbines is a remarkable achievement,” Hermann adds.

Crane operators Albert Schroer and Heiko Ramke were the first operators to use the crane. Commenting on the crane, Albert Schroer said, “I love the huge cabin and layout, the visibility and comfort is outstanding.”

Heiko Ramke added, “I am impressed how easy it is to operate, and I am honoured to be one of the first crane operators using this machine.”

The new Superlift 3800 will be added to Ulferts & Wittrock’s fleet of mobile and crawler cranes, which range from 30 to 800 tonnes capacity, and 130 to 650 tonnes capacity, respectively.
