United Rentals opens eight specialty rental branches

North American rental company United Rentals has opened seven new specialty rental branches in the US and one in Canada

United Rentals – the largest rental company in the world by revenues – said the new offices expanded its speciality power, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), trench safety and tools businesses.

The new Power and HVAC branches were opened in Raleigh, NC., Detroit, Mich., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

United Rentals said these new offices would provide engineered power, heating, cooling and ventilation solutions for commercial, industrial and governmental customers, and disaster recovery services.

The new trench safety branches were opened in Brantford, Ontario, and Beacon Falls, Conn, – providing engineered excavation support and confined space entry systems, as well as worker training.

Finally the new tools solutions branches were opened in Southaven, Miss., and Mobile, Ala., – providing temporary and long-term onsite tool management, including inventory tracking, inspections and maintenance.

Expansion plan


Paul McDonnell, United Rentals senior vice president for specialty operations, said, "We're continuing to implement a major expansion of our specialty lines of business, following significant growth in 2013.

"These eight openings are part of a broader plan for 2014 that will include additions to all of our specialty lines, including the pump network we acquired in April."

In total, United Rentals has 883 rental branches in the US and Canada.
