A consortium consisting of two subsidiaries of Spanish contractor ACS together with US contractor Tutor Perini has won a US$ 952 million contract for structural construction and mechanical works to a new metro line running below the Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, New York, US.

ACS’s US subsidiaries Schiavone and John P Picone are named in the contract, which was awarded as part of a continuation of two contracts currently being undertaken by another subsidiary of ACS, Dragados-USA, for finishing works in the New York subway.

The scope of work in the new contract includes the construction of two concrete access structures as well as installation of mechanical, electrical and fire protection structures.

These contracts are part of the planned US$ 8 billion East Side Access (ESA) line, which will connect the Long Island Rail Road in Queens to a new terminal under the Central Station in Manhattan.
