Vinci lands €500 million road building contract

03 February 2016

French-based Vinci has signed a contract to design and build a 24km bypass in Strasbourg, France.

The €500 million project will take 56 months to complete, and will be carried out by a joint venture consisting of Dodin Campenon Bernard, Vinci Construction Terrassement, Eurovia, Vinci Construction France and Vinci Energies.

The concession contract, which was signed with the Ministry for Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport & Housing, will last 54 years, with Vinci also agreeing to maintain the bypass. Vinci has said it will finance the project entirely, with no public subsidy.

The dual two-lane carriageway section will connect the A4 and A35 in the north with the A352 and A35 junction in the south.

The design and build phase is estimated to generate around 1,000 jobs per year.
