Warbud, a subsidiary of French contractor Vinci, has won two contracts worth a total of €105.5 million for construction projects in Poland.

The largest is a €60 million contract to build the Plac Unii complex in the centre of Warsaw. The project, which covers a total surface area of 105,000m2, includes two seven-level buildings and a 90m tall, 21-level tower that takes architectural inspiration from the Flatiron Building - one of the first skyscrapers in New York, US.

Vinci said a glass roof at a height of 30m would connect the three buildings. In addition to 41,000m2 of office space, the Plac Unii complex will also house a three-level, 15,500m2 shopping centre. The project is planned for completion in 20 months.

Meanwhile, Warbud also won a €45.5 million contract to build a new venue of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, southern Poland. The 35,000m2 structure, the architecture of which is said to suggest a sheaf of sheet music, will house a 1,800-seat concert hall, a 300-seat chamber music auditorium, a music education room for children and a jazz club.

The project also covers the area around the building, including an outdoor amphitheatre and green spaces. This project is also scheduled to take 20 months to complete.
