Volvo and VT LeeBoy reach Blaw-Knox agreement

08 February 2010

Volvo and VT LeeBoy have signed a strategic alliance that will see LeeBoy supply pavers and road wideners to Volvo dealers.

Under the terms of the five year brand licencing agreement, the equipment will be marketed under the Blaw-Knox brand and distributed through Volvo Road Machinery dealers. VT LeeBoy will take responsibility for product support.

"The agreement with LeeBoy enables Volvo to concentrate its road machinery technical and engineering expertise and production operations on high-volume Volvo paving, compaction and motor grader equipment," said Göran Lindgren, president of Volvo Construction Equipment. "This relationship fosters other growth opportunities for the Blaw-Knox brand, which will give Volvo dealers in North America, Australia and New Zealand access to the broadest product offering of any manufacturer in the asphalt paving industry," he said.

Production of upgraded and redesigned Blaw-Knox RW100 and RW195D road wideners and PF150 and PF161 pavers is expected to begin within the next quarter at the LeeBoy factory in Lincolnton, North Carolina, US.

President and CEO at LeeBoy, Kelly Majeskie said, "It is with a great deal of pride that we announce this agreement to our employees. Blaw-Knox is one of the most prominent road building brands in North America and we look forward to working with Volvo's distribution channels to provide Blaw-Knox pavers and road wideners for their customers."
