Sandvik's UH421 mobile secondary cone crusher, introduced to the Scandinavian market at the end of last year, is now being made available worldwide.

The screen is now placed alongside the crusher, and has an optimal feed hopper. This means the material is slowed down, and is well spread out by the time it reaches the screen, for efficient sizing.

Sandvik said the efficiency of the Sandvik SS1433 screen, used with the new unit, was shown in tests preceding the launch. Results were positive, as the input material was screened shortly after primary crushing, and was therefore relatively dry, the company added.

Andreas Persson, product manager of wheeled mobile units, for Sandvik Mining and Construction said, "A good result depends of course on the conditions at that specific customer, but it still shows the improved screening process."

The screen and the conveyors are designed for optimal capacity. The feed station can easily be removed so it is possible to feed the material directly into the crusher. The conveyors are equipped with a robust drive, including external motors and angle gears.

Working conditions around the UH421 have been improved due to the low noise screening process, leading to high separation efficiency and long service life. In addition, the conveyors are equipped with dust filters to reduce dust emissions. Sandvik stated as well as the working environment being greatly enhanced, the life of the equipment is extended, and the maintenance and clean-up costs are dramatically reduced.

The UH421 is equipped with an electrically powered CH440 cone crusher. The crushing process is continuously and automatically monitored by the intelligent automatic setting regulation system (ASRi).

A new and user-friendly control panel provides full control of the process with continuous information on current and historical production, facilitating troubleshooting and minimising disturbances during operation.

Meanwhile, the chassis of the crushing unit which has a third self-steering axle for flexibility during relocation, is designed to be registered as a towed vehicle.

The versatility of the UH421, as well as its low operating costs and high productivity, means it gives a quick return on investment, according to Sandvik.

As an undivided plant, the crushing unit has a 30 tonne triple bogie load, but because it is possible to divide the unit, this can be reduced to 24 tonnes if necessary.
