Wilson Access doubles platform fleet

Wilson Access Hire, part of the AFI group of companies, has doubled its fleet of track mounted access platforms by purchasing 10 new Teupen Leo machines.

The five Leo 18GT and five Leo 21GT platforms are new models for the fleet and have been purchased to continue the strong growth of Wilson since AFI acquired the business over two years ago.

The Leo machines are said to be ideal for use in applications where space is restricted – they are highly manouevrable and compact, enabling them to pass through standard doors and narrow entrances. With excellent weight distribution under rubber tracks, they can also access areas with floor load restrictions or sensitive surfaces.

The Leo 18GT has a working height of 17.6 metres and an outreach of 7.4 metres, whilst the 21GT’s working height is 21 metres, with an outreach of 12 metres.

Craig Rooke, Teupen sales manager UK and Ireland, said: “AFI set out with a shortlist of who they would consider as their supplier of tracked platforms and with key personnel they visited a number of factories and carried out extensive research on which way to go.

“We had many discussions and meetings with them, and it’s so refreshing to see how they are gearing themselves up in adding this equipment to their portfolio.

“Training for their service engineers has already commenced at our factory and headquarters in Germany as well as upcoming training for the sales department,” he added.

One of the Leo 18GTs purchased by Wilson Access was on display on the Teupen stand at the recent Vertikal Days event at Haydock Park, Merseyside, UK.

The Wilson Access track hire fleet is one of the most modern in the UK, with an average fleet age of under three years.
