Wolffkran coal power project
18 August 2009
They are being used by the Arge EMB-Arbeiten joint venture which has been awarded the concrete work on the project. It includes the construction of the five main buildings which include two 125 m staircase towers. When in use, the power plant will have 1,100 MW of installed power and provide nearly 7% of the Netherlands' electricity requirement.
Five of the Wolff cranes on the project are flat tops, with the other three being luffers. This year, another Wolff tower crane will be installed at the site, with another following in 2010.
For the construction of the two staircase towers, which are being erected one after the other in slip-form construction, the Wolffkran team had to attach the 145 m high Wolff 7031 FL 6/12 to them at Rotterdam port. By using a configuration of stays and guys only two fastening points were needed.
In August 2009, the second Wolff 7031 FL 6/12 was used for the construction of the second staircase tower. The hoisting winches of the two cranes each provide 75 kW power and achieve a hoisting speed of up to 220 m/min in two fall configuration.Wolff tower cranes used in the power plant construction:
