World of Concrete Europe proposed

05 November 2013

A European version of the World of Concrete show is being developed by Hanley Wood, the organiser of the World of Concrete show, in partnership with SE Intermat, which organises the tri-annual Intermat construction equipment exhibition in Paris, France.

The two organisers have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the new event, which will be known as World of Concrete Europe.

The news of the European proposal comes after Hanley Wood held the first World of Concrete India this year, from 24 to 26 October, in Hyderabad. It has confirmed that another edition of this show will take place from 16 to 18 October, 2014, also at the HITEX Exhibitions Center in Hyderabad.

The Indian edition is jointly organised by Hanley Wood and Inter Ads Exhibitions, India, supported by the Indian Concrete Institute.

The original US version of World of Concrete takes place every year at the Las Vegas Convention Center, showcasing the latest concrete and masonry technology and equipment. It will be held next year from 21 to 24 January – marking the 40th anniversary edition of the show.

World of Concrete Europe will be piloted by event organiser Comexposium, which works with SE Intermat.

SE Intermat is an umbrella organisation bringing together the trade associations for manufacturers and importers CISMA (Association of Equipment Manufacturers for Construction, Infrastructure, Steel & Handling Equipment Industries), SEIMAT (Association of International Civil Engineering, Mining, Construction & Hoisting Equipment Industries) and Comexposium.

"Major step"

Tom Cindric, vice president of Hanley Wood Exhibitions, said, “We are very excited by this partnership which is another major step in the worldwide development of World of Concrete subsequent to the launch of World of Concrete India.

“Our Las Vegas show is an annual event with international reach, and so it is only natural for us to get together with one of the construction industry’s leading exhibitions and unite our know-how as organisers.”

Intermat exhibition director Maryvonne Lanoë welcomed the agreement. “Comexposium’s Construction business unit is delighted to have started up this international partnership which will contribute to the global reach of Intermat through one of its headline sectors, the concrete industry.”

Trade associations CISMA and SEIMAT are supporting World of Concrete Europe. A date for the new show has yet to be confirmed.
