ANSI A92 committee approves development of three new standards
The ANSI A92 main committee has approved the development of three new US standards: A92.20 Design, A92.22 Safe Use and A92.24 Training. The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is represented on the new standards committees. These standards are intended to replace A92.3, A92.5, A92.6, A92.7 and A92.8.

Rental company fined for not providing familiarization
The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited One Source Equipment Rentals for lacking to provide familiarization and training upon delivery of equipment. As required in ANSI A92 standards, familiarization must be provided to users when equipment is provided for sale, rental or lease. Trained operators must also be familiarized on the specific equipment prior to use. According to sources, the user was also cited for lack of operator training.
ANSI approves new fall protection standards
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved two American Society of Safety Engineers' (ASSE) standards addressing fall protection - the new ANSI/ASSE Z359.14-2012, Safety Requirements for Self-Retracting Devices for Personal Fall Arrest and Rescue Systems, and the revised ANSI/ASSE Z359.4-2012, Safety Requirements for Assisted-Rescue and Self-Rescue Systems, Subsystems and Components. The standards are part of the Z359 Fall Protection Code.
