Delta Air Lines has awarded Australian construction company Lend Lease a US$ 170 million contract to manage the upgrade of terminal 4 at John F Kennedy Airport in Queens, New York.

The work involves managing the renovation and expansion the 255000 square feet (24000 m2) terminal.

Lend Lease Group CEO and managing director Steve McCann said the award of the major New York City project was indicative of positive construction market trends in the US.

"There are some positive signs that market conditions are stabilising and Lend Lease is well positioned to leverage from a recovery in the US," Mr McCann said.
